Error 0x80072F8F when activating Windows 8
Note: 0x80072f8f usually happens when your computer date/time differs from the servers by too large an amount.
Method 1: Check for the date and time is correct in customer computer.
Canned Statement: Let me go ahead and check the computer date and time is correct.
If the system date is correct try to activate
Change the date to any old date when the computer is working fin and then try to activate Method 2:
Canned Statement: Let me go ahead and activate windows 8.
Right Click at the bottom left of the screen and select System. Click View Details in Windows Activation under Windows Activation Click Activate Method 3: Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.
Canned Statement: Let me go ahead and activate windows 8 through phone.
Right Click at the bottom left of the screen and select Run. Now type Slui 4 in the Run dialog box and hit enter.
Select the location and click next.
Ask the customer to dial Toll free number provided and follow the IVR
(Note: the Toll free number may change depending on the customer location)
When IVR asked to enter the 9 set of keys ask the customer to enter the following 1, 2, 3…9 set showing on the customer computer using the phone keypad.
After the 9th set is entered IVR will ask to confirmation
After the confirmation
Ask the customer to note down the A, B, C….H set of keys provided by the IVR
Enter those sets of keys in A, B, C …H respectively
After all the keys are entered
Click on Activate
