How to Add Network Printer
in Windows 8
Note: This procedure will only work if you enable Windows 8
File and Printer sharing first.
To enable Printer Sharing:
Canned Statement: Let me go ahead and enable print sharing on your
computer.
Go to Start menu search box and
type in ‘Printer Sharing’ to list the options or
You can go to Control
Panel>
Network and Internet>
Network and Sharing
Center>
Advanced sharing settings
(Enable file sharing)
To Add a Network Printer
Canned Statement: Let me go ahead and install network printer on your
computer.
Step 1: Go to classic Control Panel and click Hardware
and Sound. Alternatively, click Metro Control Panel and go to More
Settings at the bottom of the options.
Step 2: Go to Advanced printer setup as in the image.
Step 3: Click “Add a local printer or network printer with
manual settings” and if it doesn’t do anything then click Browse button
instead.
Step 4: Choose the driver to add your network printer to. Be
sure you identify the model.
Note: If the computer doesn’t identify the correct drivers
ask the customer to insert the printer drivers disc in the drive or download
the drivers from the manufacturer website.
Step 5: Windows 8 will start installing the printer.
Step 6: Your network printer will then be listed in the
printers.
